Suyian Conservancy is a spectacular, unfenced wilderness located in the heart of Kenya’s famed Laikipia Plateau, which forms part of a vital wildlife migration corridor connecting Laikipia to Northern Kenya. The conservancy encompasses 44,000 acres of savannah rangelands, striking rock kopjes, and towering acacia woodland along a 16 km (10 mi) stretch of the Ewaso Narok River, which serves as the lifeblood of Laikipia. Suyian, an integral part of the wider Ewaso Ecosystem, hosts the highest diversity of large mammal species in Kenya, second only to the Masai Mara National Reserve.
Managed holistically for decades as a working cattle ranch with conservation at its core, today Suyian provides a sanctuary for wildlife and actively supports the socio-economic development of partner communities. The conservancy’s thriving wildlife population includes the elusive black (melanistic) leopard, African wild dog, and definitive northern Kenya species like Grevy’s zebra, reticulated giraffe, gerenuk antelope and desert warthog. The new &Beyond Suyian Lodge, in partnership with the Suyian Conservancy and Wild Impact, provides the unique opportunity to experience the wild and the rare.
