Wild Impact supported by &Beyond and funding from generous donors drilled a borehole with a capacity of about 3000 liters for Tsutsubega community in 2020, much of Botswana is dependent on deep wells and borehole drilling to access water, and where boreholes exist, they have eased the effects of drought.
Wild Impact is fundraising to drill a well around the communities in Tsutsubega to support the current borehole we constructed. The well will run on a solar powered pump and will be fenced to protect the pump and equipment.
In 2019, President Mokgweetsi Masisi officially declared Botswana to be in severe drought after months of unevenly distributed rains, heat waves and dry spells. Tsutsubega community suffers immensely from lack of rainfall. The stark reality is that if there is no water, there is no life; crops cannot grow, cattle and other livestock cannot survive, and nor can humans. Desperate for water; unclean and unsafe sources are relied upon, passing water-borne illnesses which is a common cause of death for young children.
