The ability for students to have appropriate classroom space is incredibly important for the quality of their learning experience for several reasons.
Enrolment has increased drastically over the years. Muchuchi Primary School is a fully fledged primary school, at present the school accommodates children from grade R to grade 7. There are 513 students (279 boys and 234 girls) with a total of 20 members of the teaching staff. The 2 new double classrooms bring the total number of classrooms to 14, there are still 2 mobile classrooms used at the school. Other infrastructure at the school includes an admin block, a library and 4 Enviro Loo toilets (2 for students 1 for girls and the other for boys, 2 for teachers 1 for ladies and the other for gentlemen).
Extra curriculum activities at the school include soccer for boys and netball for girls. The children are also involved in community cleaning campaigns.
Muchuchi Primary School was established in 1984 in the Tlhavekisa village near to the Manyaleti Game Reserve in Mpumalanga. When Muchuchi Primary School was established, there were no buildings and lessons took place under the trees. This was a huge challenge for both the teachers and the children, due to weather conditions and lack of proper resources. At the time of conception, the total number of children was 184 with 4 teachers. The school provided education to the children from sub-A to standard 5. In 1987, the Roman Catholic Church donated one block with 4 classrooms. Thereafter, the community in collaboration with the Department of Education a further 7 classrooms have been added to the school.
