Our work is structured around several complimentary programmes that collectively support the sustainable development of our partner communities and the conservation of these landscapes and seascapes in which we operate. We recognise that young people in these communities have a critical role to play in building a nation that is inclusive and thriving.
The programme placed youth across South Africa to promote and support tourist entities in their hometowns and surrounds through creative outputs like photography and videography. The youths were tasked with helping to draw local and international tourists to a wide variety of destinations, attractions and tourism providers to increase their experience and earnings. The Wild Impact youth receive workplace experience within our central office, travel and hospitality industry, environmental education, and climate resilience-focused operations, gaining meaningful skills, including (but not limited) to:
The Sustainable Tourism has a core focus around United Nations Sustainable Development Goal 8 – Decent Work and Economic Growth. SDG 8 has a key focus to promote sustained, inclusive and sustainable economic growth, full and productive employment and decent work for all.
Through the Sustainable Tourism programme activities – such as reporting, storytelling and content creation about everyday events related to eco-tourism in a tourism area/community – which of will allow for a lot of improvement in their abilities to become better communicators that they were before. This is a critical and basic skill which will ultimately benefit them and improve their job prospects going forward.
