Wild Impact started working with the Iltolish Community in 2017. Situated atop the escarpment in Kenya’s Trans-Mara District, Iltolish is home to about 2,200 residents and lies a short distance from the &Beyond lodges of Kichwa Tembo and Bateleur Camp and the Masai Mara National Reserve, home to iconic wildlife. Together with the neighbouring Emurutoto and Saparingo communities, Iltolish relies primarily on cattle herding, with few opportunities for formal employment aside from nearby lodges.
For over 20 years, Wild Impact in collaboration with &Beyond have worked with these partner communities and government authorities to improve education, healthcare and sustainable livelihood opportunities, together with the restoration and conservation of the Nyekweri Forest, underlining the meaningful community benefits enabled by conservation.
