Set amidst an ocean of dunes, rocky outcrops and gravel plains, the utter tranquillity and extraordinary clarity of light define this compelling landscape. This region is renowned for its ‘star’ dunes and unique biodiversity, including the elusive golden mole and desert adapted antelope. It is also home to a Dark Sky Reserve, offering exceptional stargazing.
Within the extremes of the Namib Desert, the environment, wildlife and local communities lie at the sharp end of life-sustaining resource management and an increasing aridity compounded by climate change. Our partner communities also face limited economic opportunities due to low population densities, and are 500 km (310.6 mi.) away from the conservation area
