It gives us immense pleasure to introduce, Omaatla Twaelo, from the village of Tsutsubega, a remote area in Botswana. Omaatla is our first ever student from this community, as the Bursary fund expanded its reach into Botswana in 2019.
Omaatla is a young and loving lady who is extremely passionate about early childhood education. Unfortunately for her, she was born and raised in this village which does not have schools. This meant that she had to leave her home and parents, to live 20km away with relatives, in order to attend school.
Despite this challenge, Omaatla developed a deep love for education, and a resolve that all young children should have access to education, close to home. She believes every child should have the best start without suffering the excruciating pain of being separated from family.
The Wild Impact CLEF team recognised, skill, passion, determination and community spirit in Omaatla and were thrilled to be able to provide her with a bursary to study Diploma in Early Childhood Development.
Her dream is to start the first ever pre-school in her village and offer the opportunity for children to attend school at the earliest possible age. She is positive that her goal will change the lives of the community at large, as a greater understanding of the power of Early Childhood Development will motivate households to ensure their children access education.
