Wild Impact started working with the Olorukoti Knowledge and Resource Centre in 2022. The Nyekweri Forest, situated adjacent to the Masai Mara National Reserve, is a key collaborative project in partnership with the Emurutoto, Saparingo and Iltolish communities. In addition to its ecological value, it is a refuge for the endangered giant ground pangolin and regional elephant who are known to choose the forest as a safe place to give birth. This rich, irreplaceable ecosystem is even more than a haven for biodiversity. Conservation of this habitat is the region’s lifeblood, as it provides essential water catchment services and maintains the fragile ecological balance.
