Since 1992, Wild Impact and &Beyond have progressively developed and implemented a substantive portfolio of impact projects within the Lubombo landscape. The Lubombo Transfrontier Conservation Area is a landscape of extraordinary natural and cultural diversity, connecting communities and conservation areas across South Africa, Eswatini and Mozambique. It is situated on a low-lying coastal plain between the Lebombo Mountains in the west and the Indian Ocean in the east. The area offers a unique combination of big-game country, extensive wetlands and beautiful undeveloped coastal areas.
The primary conservation area that anchors our work is the 31 154 ha Munywana Conservancy, and our partner communities are the KwaMakhasa, KwaMnqobokazi, KwaNibela, KwaJobe and KwaNgwenya communities – home to over 69 700 residents. The Munywana Conservancy and the five partner communities neighbour iSimangaliso Wetland Park, which was proclaimed as a World Heritage area in 1999, recognised for its exceptional biodiversity, natural beauty and unique ecological processes.
Working alongside traditional communities within and around the Munywana Conservancy, we support initiatives that strengthen education, health, livelihoods, food security and environmental stewardship.
