Wild Impact was founded when Phinda Private Game Reserve in KwaZulu- Natal was established, and 2 years later started operating in Mpumalanga, in two nodes within the region – in the North adjacent to Ngala Private Game Reserve (Kruger National Park) and in the South adjacent to the Sabi Sand Game Reserve. The communities in which we operate in are underserved rural communities, with limited infrastructure, low education outcomes, high unemployment and limited economic activity.

Our Theory of Change and Results Chain focus on four key areas: In Conserving Ecosystems, we aim to enhance conservation efforts for the natural ecosystems and biodiversity within these landscapes and seascapes, aligning with Sustainable Development Goals 14 and 15. Future Foundations supports improved access to primary health care and early childhood, as well as primary and secondary Education, in communities that serve as stewards of these landscapes and seascapes, contributing to Sustainable Development Goals 3 and 4. Tomorrow’s Leaders promotes tertiary-level skills and environmental Educationwithin these communities to build future leaders, supporting SDG 4. Lastly, Thriving Communities focuses on enhancing climate resilience, enterprise capacity, youth employment, and sustainable tourism, in line with Sustainable Development Goals 5, 6, 8, and 13.

To date we have improved access to 102 schools, 148 Early Dhildhood School, and 15 Healthcare facilities, which support improved access to primary health care and early childhood, as well as primary and secondary education, in the communities that are the stewards of these landscapes and seascapes (SDGs 3, 4)

Our Echo programme is active in 100 schools, focused on developing the capacity of Echo Stewards to support Natural Science teaching through multiple training workshops – emphasis on the Grades’ 4 – 9 curriculum.
This work directly supports Sustainable Development Goal 4, Quality Education supporting improved tertiary education level skills and environmental education in the communities that are the stewards of these landscapes and seascapes.
Our Community Leadership and Education Fund has supported 31 school learners from the years 2023 – 2024. In 2024 CLEF piloted support for vocational studies emphasising on the NQF level 2 community house building -supporting 5 students and improving the quality of care and education at ECD centres by equipping practitioners to acquire a NQF level 4 qualification – supporting 5 practitioners

To-date 1066 youth have been supported through our stars in training programme, in Our financial year 2024 905 hustle-preneurs have been supported through our Hustle economy programme and 192 facilities have been supported through our Climate Resilient Communities programme, with food gardens where 12 815 Beneficiaries have benefited through our Climate Resilient Communities programme. Supporting improved climate change resilience, enterprise capacity, youth employment and sustainable tourism activity in the communities that are the stewards of these landscapes and seascapes (SDGs 5, 6, 8 & 13)
