Over the past months, several workshops have been conducted with the KwaNgwenya community to co-develop and deliver the Harmony with Wildlife project, which aims to reduce human-wildlife conflict and nurture community support for the conservation of wildlife that lives around the community. KwaNgwenya, a rural community in KwaZulu-Natal has been facing human-wildlife conflict in the form of livestock depredation by predators from the neighboring reserves, impacting the community’s livelihood and relationships with the surrounding reserves. Free-roaming wildlife from the surrounding protected areas have been impacting the livestock of the KwaNgwenya communities. Wild Impact, &Beyond and Zuka are working with the KwaNgwenya community to identify, resolve and mitigate these human-wildlife conflicts, whilst fostering the stewardship of KwaNgwenya’s wildlife.
