Maqophane Crèche, established in 2009, is located in Clare A, a community in South Africa. The facility comprises a double classroom block, a pit toilet shared by staff and children, a storeroom, and an incomplete office building. Currently, the crèche enrolls 68 children, cared for by five staff members, including three teachers, a cook, and a cleaner. The existing infrastructure does not meet the Department of Social Development’s standards, which has resulted in the withdrawal of government funding. To address these deficiencies, Wild Impact has been raising funds to renovate and upgrade the facilities. Planned improvements include constructing double classrooms, a kitchen and dining area, Enviroloo toilets, fencing, a play area, and water infrastructure. These enhancements aim to provide a safe and conducive learning environment, enabling the crèche to regain government support and continue serving the community effectively.
