Wild Impact, in partnership with &Beyond are looking forward to partnering with Posta, Ewasso and Rumuruti communities which are near the &Beyond Suyian lodge. The communities sit at approx. 20km, 19km, and 34Km respectively from the recently established &Beyond Suyian Lodge. Laikipia county is located in the semi-arid region of the Rift Valley, approximately 220 km North of Nairobi on the leeward side of Mt. Kenya. The county is rich in biodiversity and serves as a major hub for wildlife conservation. Laikipia county harbors communities whose major livelihood forms are agriculture , livestock keeping, conservation and tourism. Approximately 75% of land in Laikipia is non-arable and therefore not suitable for intensive agriculture.
There are several conservancies in Laikipia under the umbrella of Laikipia Conservancies Association with a unified vision to conserve nature and improve people’s lives. The county harbors communities whose major livelihood forms are agriculture, livestock keeping, conservation and tourism. Conservation and Tourism have contributed greatly to several community livelihood projects including education, healthcare, grazing agreements, infrastructural development and mitigation of Human-Wildlife Conflicts.
