Vueyelani School is in Lillydale Community under Bushbuckridge Municipality and offers Grades R to 7. Wild Impact and &Beyond first partnered with the school in 2013 to build a kitchen. In 2014, further support was provided in the form of four classrooms in total to date. At that stage, the majority of the school structures were wooden shacks, which were ineffective in protecting the 600 children enrolled at the school from the elements.
Assistance was also provided for the development of a vegetable garden, which not only provides fruit and vegetables for school meals but also produces enough to sell, so that the school can earn some money. Current infrastructure consists of 22 classrooms, of which 6 are mobile units, 10 are plastered and 6 face brick classrooms. The infrastructure is far from adequate, the mobile classrooms being particularly small and cold in winter and loud when it is raining.
